Admissions

Selection for the class of 2017: This year, the SERP-Chem office received 204 applications for the Erasmus Mundus scholarship, coming from 52 different countries. In February, the selection committee met at the Adam Mickiewicz University in order to select the best candidates for admission to the programme and to the Erasmus Mundus scholarship. As a result, the SERP-Chem office submitted 17 applications to the European Commission (EACEA). Final notification for the scholarship is expected in May. Admission for self-financed students are still open (apply here).


Focus on Science

Peter Atkins in Aveiro (March 29th): Peter Atkins, the author of 9 textbooks in Chemistry, Physical-Chemistry and Inorganic Chemistry gave a lecture at the University of Aveiro (Portugal) in front of the SERP-Chem students (semester 2 in Portugal). The lecture was entitled "Aspects of thermodynamics and quantum theory. Read more...

 

Company visits, semester 1 in France: During the first semester at the University Paris-Sud, the SERP-Chem students had the opportunity to visit 3 major research and industrial sites in the region of Paris. The students visited the research centre “SOLEIL synchrotron” and the companies Messer and Ipsen. Next year, some of the students will maybe have the opportunity to perform their internship in these institutions, as several of their predecessors. Read more…


Student life

Social programmes: focus on semester 1 in Italy: First year students were guided around the city of Genoa as part of the welcoming tour. They strolled through the cobblestone streets of the old city centre where many of the historical sites can be found, such as the medieval gates of Genoa and the house of Columbus. Students at the University of Genoa also enjoyed a night at the theatre and saw a performance of Luisa Miller by Giuseppe Verdi at the Teatro Carlo Felice. Graduation Ceremony, Class of 2015: The graduation ceremony will be held on July 1st 2015 at the University Paris-Sud (France) at 5 pm (local time) in building 100A, room Joliot-Curie. Invitations and more information to come...

Summer School, Class of 2016: The Summer School (aka School on Science Management for Scientists and Engineers), edition 2015, will be held from July 6th to July 17th. Students must arrive in Genoa (Italy) before 6 pm (local time) on July 5th. A social dinner will be organized on the arrival day. The detailed programme of the courses is available on the SoSMSE website.
